I am way behind in updating this site mainly because of my long stay in hospital last year !!!

Note that the comments made about some the photos are basically factual and in some cases deliberately explicit so as to, hopefully, embarrass the hell out of some of the so called 'ladies' !!!

My reasons for doing so are many and Revenge Is So Sweet - Chuckle, Chuckle !!!

This picture was taken at Bellingham, Washington at Christmas in 1972 at my good friends the Mathers...I was 36 and she was 22 and an absolute charmer (in English or French !)...She was from Montreal but had moved to Los Angeles with her

family and then she moved to Vancouver where she got a job in the Pharmacy at the Vancouver General Hospital where I met her at a party ! An uninhibited beauty and a charmer and a sex-loving real red-head as a bonus !!!

a famous BC Historian who specialized in various historical characters from BC's early days such as my Grandfather - JOHN KIRKUP - THE MOUNTAIN SHERIFF !!!

JOHN KIRKUP - the MOUNTAIN SHERIFF - From CANADA WEST MAGAZINE but originally published in HARPERS MAGAZINE in 1891...

I had the actual leather bound Harpers Magazine but lent it to Bill so he could use the pic of my grandfather for his magazine but I never got it back !

If the original Water-Colour Wash by Frederic Remington still existed it would be worth a LOT of money, but it is believed that it was lost in a fire sometime in the 1920s in New York State !!!

MOUNT KIRKUP - Near REVELSTOKE , B.C.

Apparently it was discovered in 1936 that there were two mountains with the same name, so the B.C. Government chose to rename one of them MOUNT KIRKUP...

Pretty neat, eh ? But I don't think my father, who died in 1971, ever knew about the mountain being named after his father ! At least, it was never mentioned to me ! Communication wasn't exactly like it is today !

The Kirkups out for a Sunday drive around 1908...Some of the other people in the automobile I believe are part of the Clothier family also from Rossland...

Thanks to a font-of-all-knowledge friend in Maple Ridge, B.C. the vehicle has been

identified as a 1907 Gladiator Touring Car !!!

An interesting fact is that a descendant of the Rossland Clothier family became a famous actor - he was Robert Clothier and he portrayed 'RELIC' on the long-running CBC Television Series "BEACHCOMBERS"...

Apparently I am his second cousin !!!

However, I can understand why nobody wanted to mess with this guy when he was Sheriff !!!

In 1936 the BC Government discovered they had two mountains with the same name...They renamed one of the mountains MOUNT KIRKUP after my Grandfather (Sheriff) John Kirkup...I never discovered this fact until the 1970s when I was contacted by the Government who wanted more information about my Grandfather...Apparently, if you can believe, they didn't know he was Gold Commissioner/Government Agent when he died at Nanaimo in1913 of diabetes.
